[Obtaining, Installing and Testing CRYSTALS | Basic Demonstration]

The latest version of the Crystals software suite has been ported to 32 bit Windows with a full GUI but retaining access via a commandline to its scripting system. Crystals for windows (also called CRYSTALS 2000) works on Win95, Win98 and Windows NT.

CRYSTALS contains a large diversity of "integrated" facilities for structure analysis.

Some of the Crystals functionality includes

  • GUI (Graphical User Interface) [Screen Dump Example of Win CRYSTALS 2000]
  • Powerful customisable scripting language for controlling the program.
  • Novice "routine" structure solution and refinement scripts up to power user scripts.
  • Automatic geometrical placement of hydrogens and location of hydrogens from difference maps.
  • The full dictionary of instructions, directives, parameters and keywords is over 2,000 items.
The Instruction and LISTs are in the crystals manual. There is a pro-forma definition, showing all the directives and parameters. The keywords are only shown in the body of the text.
