About DL Convert

DLConverter is a Windows based data conversion program made to convert "mass amounts" of diffraction data; the end product of modern fast detectors that can scans in seconds/minutes - rather than hours/day. As many peak fitting programs do not like zero counts, DL-convert has the option of adding one count to each channel.

What's new in version 1.3

New features of DL Convert (version 1.3)
  • Converts from Energy (kev) to Two-Theta (degree) with linear interpolation.
  • Converts SRS Angular Dispersive Data (beam lines 2.3 and 9.1) to Xfit, Cpi, Gsas and Xy output formats.
    • User definable columns format,
    • Normalisation to the monitor,
    • Converts and plots the monitor data.
  • Converts all data from SRS 16.4 ASCII all three detectors simultaneously.
    • Auto-detects the timer and the detector files,
    • Set the file and directory name with files informations.
  • Allows quickly a graphical view of the results.
  • Converts ORTEC MCA Binary chn Data to Xfit and Cpi formats.

Features of previous DL Convert

The DL Converter program is able to sum different datasets from different SRS 16.4 ASCII files to a single file. This option has been required by several users who wanted to get a better precision of analysis of the Xfit file which has been converted after summing. The program allows a one or two steps conversion. The user can select all the SRS MCA files he wants to sum, choose the Xfit options and then convert the data. The two steps conversion will only summed the SRS MCA files in a single file and the user can do as many conversions as he wants. There are two kind of rebinning. The first one will rebin the data from two datapoints to one and the second one will rebin the data from four datapoints to one. The rebinning applies for nearly every conversions. The only exception is the MCA files.

The second important modification is that it is now possible to convert the SRS and the Argonne file to D-Spacing(Angstrom) or Two-Theta (Degree). Those conversions are made with X and Y non-interpolated.
The conversion is done thanks to the following equations :

where :
E is the photon energy
d-space is the lattice-plane spacing
2_theta/2 is the Bragg angle
Lambda is the wavelength

The output files consist of two columns of data. The first column represents the Dspacing or the Two-Theta values and the second column represents the counts. The A value given by the user is the Starting keV and the B value given by the user is the Step keV.
This new version allows the user to choose the column format between "Same as Input", "Single Column" and now "10 Columns Output". This was added because it was convenient for some applications.

The DL Convert (version1.21a) allows the conversion of the Constant Step Q = x / d. The user can define the value of x he wants as different users prefer to use x =1, x = 2 or x = 2*PI. This conversion is allowed from the SRS or the Argonne files to D-Spacing(Angstrom). It is now possible to convert SRS single and multiple spectrum files.
The next new feature is the possibility to save parameters in an *.ini file. All the current parameters will be saved in one file. It will be possible to load this file at any time and a default parameters option will replace the default parameters.
