  often simply called the "tolerance factor". A concept, that bases on the assumption, that the structure consists of an arrangement of inelastic spheres. Though, simply the ratios of the ionic radii control the distortion.

• Glazer's concept of octahedral distortion,

  that classifies different variants of the structure by breaking the distortion itself down to rotations of the BO₆-octahedra.
