Platon can very quickly evaluate the environment around selected atoms.

Run Platon and open up the Shelx or Platon structure file of interest.

For ease of atom selection, label the atoms. Select the 2nd quartet of the Option Menu (Style Menu) and select LabelAtom which should then label the atoms and turn red showing this option is enabled.

To get the menu with the Geometry Calculation options, select the 4th quartet of the Option Menu (Geometry Menu). The Geometry option of interest (Geom Calc) is the 6th option down on the right hand menu.

Getting to the Geometry Menu

Select Geom Calc by clicking on it (it should turn red indicating it is active), then click on the atoms that you desire to know the local environment of. You can use the Rotate options (RotZ, RotY, RotX) to change the view of the structure.

It you wish to have a summary of all bonds, etc: select the ListBonds which will then output this information to the Platon Dialog Window.
