Subject: Installing GSAS/EXPGUI made simpler (I hope)

With the hope that I will make it both simpler to install GSAS & EXPGUI
and reduce the number of problems that Bob & I get related to errors in
installation, I have created a self-installing .EXE program for Windows
and a RPM for Linux. Both install the latest versions of GSAS & EXPGUI,
as well as required support files & create shortcuts.

The self installer file (~10 Mb.) is:

The basic instructions are:
	download the file
	run it
	wait while it uncompresses
choose options for where short-cuts will be placed
choose a directory where the files will be placed
wait while it copies files & reboots your machine

For more extensive instructions, with screen-shots, see

The program has gotten some testing on Win-95, Win-98 and Win-2000. It
should work in -NT, but no promises are made for -XP and -ME.

The latest RPM file (~14Mb) is:

The basic instructions are:
	download the file
install the file with command like
		rpm -ihv /tmp/GSAS-EXPGUI-2001.11.27-1.i386.rpm

For more information on how to use the RPM file, see the Linux-RPM
installation notes:

There is a new version of GSAS (Oct 2001) for the SGI
as well as an updated version of EXPGUI
but sorry, you will have to install Tcl/Tk & BLT on your own (see
http://www.ncnr.nist.gov/xtal/software/tclpkgs82sgi.html &
http://www.ncnr.nist.gov/xtal/software/tclpkgs82linux.html for hints).
Also see the documentation in the gsaskit-new.tar.gz &
expgui_ALPHA.tar.gz files.

If something does not work, please reread the instructions. If it still
does not work, please let me know so that I can try to fix it.
