RSD-PLOT 1.2

RSDP is a printing utility for Rietveld data and powder diffraction simulation data. This software is FREEWARE and runs on IBM-compatible PC-AT under the operating system DOS (like DMPLOT). The code is written in BorlandPascal 7.0 and compiled for the Protected DOS mode. Minimum hardware requirements are a 386 CPU, 1 Mb RAM and a compatible mouse. The program will be frequently updated depending on the demand and suggestions by its users. The primary objective was to provide a printing utility for F.Izumis RIETAN program for those, who use the IBM version of this Rietveld refinement program. For updates please check this homepage.

editing PS-files

The output PostScript files may also be edited with programs like ISLANDDRAW (UNIX-machines) and COREL-DRAW 5.0 or up (WINDOWS).

So if you dont want to wait for the next version of RSDP, in order to use Greek symbols for labeling, you may do so by editing the PS-files !

print to ANY PRINTER !

GOOD NEWS: You dont need an expensive PostScript-printer to use RSD-PLOT

You may use COREL-DRAW or GHOSTVIEW FOR WINDOWS to print the PostScript files to any printer installed under your WINDOS system ! I checked it with my Canon Bubble-jet Printer (very cheap). Loading and printing with COREL-DRAW took 2-3 minutes, with GHOSTVIEW 5-10 minutes. (this depends of course on the number of data) Make sure, that you always use B/W PS-files for B/W printers and not the COLOR PS-files, since the color-to-b/w conversion might not give well-contrasted lines.

This possibility is actually much better than including screen dumping to Laser and other printers into RSDP, where the printing quality depends on the screen resolution and might therefore be poor. What do YOU think ?

DBWS and GSAS users !

GSAS:
Standard powder files (ASCII format) can now be read in, but still not the refinement data (BINARY-format). Does anyone of you have a TURPO PASCAL routine to read in these binary files ???

DBWS:
Can someone send me a list with the possible names used in DBWS-files for the X-ray radiation? I only have example files with "CuKa1" . I need to know what other codes are possible, in order for RSDP to load the correct wavelength.

Thanks for your cooperation

future implementations

- GSAS refinement data input
- screen dumping to Laser & Matrix printers intended
- Greek symbols for axis titles and added text

feedback ?

Up till now I have no feedback whatsoever on RSDP. I would appreciate if its users (if there are any) could make some coments on its features, user-friendliness, etc. Otherwise I cannot work on its improvement. Many thanks in advance. (S.Weber, March 1,1997)

release notes

August 16, RSDP v1.0
- GSAS-file input not implemented yet (I need a datafile)
- Intensity data scaling does not work yet
- Only POSTSCRIPT output (b/w & color)

August 20, update
- excluded regions as given in IGOR files were not correctly drawn: corrected !
(now these regions are drawn blank [up to 10 gaps allowed. if you need more than that, let me know])

August 23, update
- vertical text lables included

September 25, RSDP v1.1
- GSAS standard powder file included

March 1, update
- I added the subdirectory data\2theta_i\ with a utility for converting 2THETA-INTENSITY files into *.ppf files

May 20, update
- RSDP now supports RIETAN's IGOR-files for TOF data and FULLPROF's IGOR-files for x-ray data. Note the new subdirectories of ./DATA/IGOR/.... !
