Strategy

Strategy is a program to aid in data collection strategy. You can run it after indexing the first frame using DENZO. Given the space group, it determines the spindle angle to start the data collection at. Strategy has been written by Raimond Ravelli (Bijvoetcentrum, Utrecht). John Skinner (Brookhaven National Laboratory) has written a Graphical User Interface to reduce the use of strategy to 2-button-step process. These GUIs are daily used at NSLS Beamline X12C

Notes

To run the program:

Read the manual: man_strategy.html

Prepare an input file like:

          XFILE        trig1_3_001.x
          NFRAME       26
          SPACE GROUP  P3121
          FORMAT       MARBIG
          NBINS        10
          PSFILE       trig1_3.ps

Use spaces in the input file, no tabs! Furthermore, do not use the character '-' in the name of the XFILE or PSFILE.

Run the program (in batch mode) like:

       strategy <strategy.inp |tee strategy.log

Limitations:

Overlaps are not discarded.
Mosaicity is assumed to be zero.
A maximum of 6000000 spots can be calculated.
