The Structure of ArIn[Co(CO)4]2

An organometallic complex with five-coordinate indium

The compound ArIn[Co(CO)4]2 (Ar=C6H3[CH2N(CH3)2]2) has a straightforward crystal structure that proceeds readily from the initial structure solution. This is in marked contrast to the structure of its companion ArGa[Co(CO)4]2 which shows two-fold disorder of the central gallium. The larger In3+ center provides a better fit to the central cavity than the smaller Ga3+ ion thus preventing the disorder that arises in the latter.

Companion Structure: ArGa[Co(CO)4]2
