ILL Science Council: Review of Powder Diffraction

The ILL Science Council in 1998 asked one of its members, Dr Ch.-H. de Novion, Director of LLB Saclay, to review ILL powder, liquid and amorphous materials diffraction.  He formed a working group with Drs Pierre Chieux (Grenoble), Jose Gomez-Sal (Uni. Cantabria), Alan Hewat (ILL), Paolo Radaelli (ISIS) and Juan Rodriguez-Carvajal (LLB). The first results of this review are available as follows:

• A preliminary report to the Science Council of October 1998
• An interim report to the Science Council of April 1999
• The final report on the Review to the Science Council of October 1999
• A summary of the results of a questionnaire to ILL users
• A survey of citations of 5085 ILL publications between 1981-97
• A list of recent publications (since 1996) on ILL powder machines
• An ILL workshop on powder diffraction, 22-23 March 1999, with a group photo of participants
• Proposals for the Millenium Development programme

Users of ILL who have not yet completed the questionnaire, or who have further comments, are invited to email Alan Hewat.  Participants in the workshop should email Marie-Rose Guillermet.
