Currently: On sabbatical. Investigating fsf/oss paradigm for applicability to a variety of engineering applications by entrepreneurial startups.

New Ghostscript User. Why? Wanted to read raph's draft thesis and my current workstation is not postscript enabled nor is it currently talking to our net's postscript printer.

A diabolically clever way to get open source code distributed to potential new users. :)

Certification:

I am probably not currently eligible for certification by a rigorous application of the local definitions. Perhaps I can find some way to participate locally to change this status.

It will be interesting to see how the certification process works in a smaller more close knit community. With a low certifcation, Advogato gets a little boring, if you do not bring your own crowd to interact with through the diaries. This may not encourage participation or community growth at the lower levels. Perhaps it works better near the seeds. Anyone who wishes to share their insights in how this paradigm might be added to or improved to assist new open engineering communities get established effectively online is welcome to contact me at: icboise@surfbest.net Please mention me specifically (Mike, Michael, etc.) in the message so my brother knows to forward the message to me. Thanks.

Excellent! It took longer than usual to find the code and installables than other sites I have been to but the installation routines were smooth and clean. After clicking on the executables for ghostscript and gsview and clicking through the status messages, the document I was after (Raph's thesis on trust models) came right up.

Suggestions to the site maintainer:

A specific link to the diary on the homepage menu would be convenient. Stashing the link down in the paragraph on the homepage leaves me searching for a few seconds or tens of seconds for it to access the log.

Adding the several lines describing the subset of html supported in the diary entry form that is present on advogato to the ghos ..... never mind, I just checked and it was below the visual portion of the screen the way I have my browser set up.

On a different topic .... anybody have a good recommendation regarding an introductory and/or advanced book on graph theory as it would apply to the trust model used here or control systems for complex or nonlinear phenomenon?

Send it to Mike icboise@surfbest.net Thanks.
