THERMOCALC

Mineral Activity models

For more details see: Tim Holland & Roger Powell - An internally consistent thermodynamic dataset for phases of petrological interest.

Journal of Metamorphic Geology, 16, 309 (1998).

These web pages give basic information on the mineral activity-composition relations for use with THERMOCALC and the 1998 dataset . These are provided as an aid in setting up models for use in practical calculations; in certain specific cases a mixing model was used in retrieving thermodynamic data, and so the same mixing model must also be used in calculations to maintain internal consistency. Example data files coded for THERMOCALC are provided for downloading (mac versions); more will be added soon. This material is under construction, and will evolve continuously.

For more information on the program THERMOCALC see the web pages of Roger Powell (University of Melbourne, Australia). Sample files of mineral solid solutions may be downloaded together with the most recent version of THERMOCALC and dataset.
