This directory contains a special 'command-line only' PLATON version

(not for general distribution ! useful only as part of Bruker Software.)

Static LINUX executable : platon
MS-Windows   executable : platon.exe (or platon.zip)

Linux Instructions:

- copy the files platon.f, check.def and sucrose.cif to a new directory
  e.g. /usr/local/platon

- Compile: g77 -static -o platon platon.f 

- Copy the platon executable to a globally accessible location
  e.g. /usr/local/bin

- set the environment variable CHECKDEF (in startup script)
  e.g. setenv CHECKDEF /usr/local/platon/check.def

- run validation from the command line with either

  platon -u sucrose.cif or platon -U sucrose.cif 

  the validation result in on the file sucrose.chk
