This is the Linux version of crunch. Compilation by f2c/cc as well as g77 is supported. Recently support for Red Hat's fort77 pseudo compiler has been added. The compilers or scripts should be located in /usr/bin. For a successful installation fortran, gzip, gunzip and the Bourne shell must be supported. At least 8 Mb Ram must be made available to the program. Standard optimization, -O, is used. If g77 is present, it will be preferred above the other options. If you do not want this you will have to change something, eg make /usr/bin/g77 not executable or change its name. Do not forget to change things back once you have installed Crunch. To install Crunch copy the files crunch.tar.gz, and Crunchmake to the directory where you would like to install Crunch. Check whether Crunchmake is executable. If not, make it so. Next run Crunchmake. No files will be created within your directory of choice other than the directory 'crunch_1.0'. Move the link to the Crunch-script, 'crunch', into a sensible directory. Next read the manual! The installationscript does no error checking. Therefore its final message may be over optimistic. Do try to solve the teststructure provided before removing crunch.tar.gz.
